Mucus Head…

Hey y’all… coming to you from the space that is my gigantic head bucket of mucus. I caught the cruditis this week, starting with a super sore throat on Tuesday and then migrating to a super congestionified head space with a super sore throat and cough. Y’all… thanks to whomever passed that along. Best! Present! Ever! If you need me I’ll be living inside a humidifier… preferrably somewhere warm like Hawaii or the Hell fires, whichever is closest and least expensive to travel.

In other news, BoBo and Lindsay came to visit Wednesday through Saturday morning since Shayne was on a business trip out of town! Oh BoBo… you so sweet… and busy! We tried to do a daily shindig so BoBo could get his energy out, so I went to places I’d never been before… like that germ bucket that is now inhabiting the old Hastings building, a bounce house… and that other germified place called the Jump Zone. Three hails to Whitney for bringing her cruditis germs in with the other people’s cruditis germs! We taught BoBo how to say some new words like George the feral cat (or more like Ohrd) and bird as in flipping the bird to the lady who cut us off in the parking lot. JOSHING… GOSH… we kept it kid friendly. I then tried to get BoBo to do my homework for me… HTML/CSS language web site talk… laws, it’s like speaking swahili to a bunch of geeks.

As for my exercising and eating… the weekday eating went off pretty dang well. My routine was off and I was sick, so there were some days I adjusted my menu, but I stayed within my calories during the week. Saturday continues to be a struggle bug… get with the Saturday program, Whitmeister! I also only exercised Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and skipped out the rest of the week due to the aforementioned cruditis. Onto this next week. No use dwelling on the past when there’s a future to be had… countdown to March… 1 more week!

Lindsay Rae Howell did not send me her update… excuse you Lindsay Rae Howell… so maybe she will update y’all on her week in the comments. I do know that one night she made this concoction that included turkey bacon, chicken, and squash noodles. I’m sorry I had to miss that meal! I also know she is really stepping up her fashionable choices wearing around a Hello Kitty Onesie that I bought at Wal-Mart on clearance. The more you know… and no, Lindsay, I won’t post the picture of you wearing them… it’s better this way!

How was y’alls weeks? Did you have some successes? How about things to improve on? How would you rate yourself this week?

My lunch for this week was mighty tasty… that’s cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella with a dressing of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, oregano, and basil. 232 calories per serving! YUM!!

Hey errybody… I at the germy bouncy houses!

So, Auntie Whitty… if I grab this giant Lego dude and you hold the door open, we’ll get out of here real fast like.

BoBo is part ape! He was really good at swinging on this rope without anyone holding onto him… video below!

CHEEEEEESSSEEEEE!!!

Super… Bowling…

Short and sweet this morning mostly because I’m lazy and secondly because I had this really great story about indoor birds and being attacked by a gaggle of them this past Friday, but it’s going to have to wait until I have the desire to REALLY tell the tale (aka exaggerate every ounce of that sucker)! Y’all… birds and I have a history and it isn’t a good one!

This past week was stellar for me on the eating and exercising front! I kicked the patookus out of Monday through Friday and half of Saturday… and then Saturday night came and Superbowl Sunday night came and I didn’t do as well as I’d hoped to. Grocery shopping at Lee’s on Saturday evening when they were sampling Superbowl snacking ideas means that none of those calories counted right!? I mean what’s a mini hotdog and a small creamsicle float and 15 different crackers and cheeseballs!? Oh, the humanity! Is there a thing where I can just cut my hands off in times of trouble and then reattach them when I’ve reinserted the smart part of my brain!? Who am I kidding… they invented straws and I still have a mouth. I’m going to have to rethink that hand cutting off idea.

Exaggerations aside… I didn’t do as horribly as my brain is kicking myself to think I did, so my goal is just to move on and kick rear this week. Lifestyle means you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have… the Facts of Life! EIGHTIES PEEPS!

How was your week? On a scale of 1 to 10 what would you give exercise and what would you give eating? Let’s do this!

LINDSAY’S UPDATE:

Well first off, I should share, I am down 9 pounds. HOORAY! It’s important to celebrate! Be proud of what you have accomplished and then put your head back in the sand and keep plugging forward!

I am very motivated to lose at least 9 more pounds by April. If possible more than that. But 9 more was my original goal. That would be a huge accomplishment for me!! With a goal in site what once used to tempt me now no longer has the strength over me that it used to! I can easily turn my head because I know what I am working for. I really do believe if I didn’t have a trip/goal to go to on in April then I would give in more often to food because there isn’t a timeframe that I need to lose the weight by! I keep telling myself, April is NOT far away at all and I DO NOT want to disappoint myself! So I am laser focused.

That being said, I wanted to share this video with you all. It is short and sweet and is truly what I had to do this time around with my goal setting:

ENJOY!

Let’s hear from you guys!

BoBo just discovered the joys of spiked fruit punch!

Addiction!

… and cheesy grins.

Striking And Balling: A Parable

You know that really annoying country song by Luke Bryan… something like, “hunting and fishing and loving every day” Blah blah blah? I’ve been thinking (y’all… get ready… glimpse into the psychotic workings of my brain space) that they really ought to do a spin-off of that annoying song but for like a mental health rehabilitation center… “eating and sleeping and drinking every day”. Instead of a video of some Luke Bryan dude in camo carrying a gun and a fishing pole, y’all get some man or woman in raggedy pajamas with blood shot eyes eating cake! Can y’all take the brilliance!? My sincerest apologies to anyone who loves that song so much they have it as their ringtone… but the apologies aren’t that sincere because really… get a new ringtone before my blood shot eyes roll out the roof of my skull!

Moving on. I’ve also been thinking this week about calorizing parables, and I somehow keep landing on softball/baseball themed ones. I loved playing softball in my younger years, and wish I could have continued playing… maybe one day on the senior citizen league. Tangent averted… the reason I was thinking about softball this week was because I made some poor eating choices. I had a menu in place, but I choose on a few occasions to forgo that menu for something less smart. In the more recent past that would have been a total derailing of all things healthy living. My attitude has been all or nothing a LOT the last few years. I’m always trying and I’m always failing, and the failing leads to a few weeks of not trying at all before I pick up the trying again. No more… that’s an extremely unhealthy lifestyle regimen because in this life of ours we’re always going to have some times where we don’t choose the wisest choice, but our life doesn’t end because of it (in most cases). I’m having to think of this week as an inning in a softball game, and more specifically a single up to bat. I get 3 strikes at the plate before I’m out or 4 balls before I walk, but even then the inning isn’t over and if that inning does end in 3 strikeouts, there is always the next inning… the game isn’t over until we leave this pretty Earth for the heavenly home.

To sum it up, this week I’m giving myself a strike for eating, but a homerun on the exercise front as I managed 4 days of purposeful exercise and 2 more days of moving more rather than sitting and drooling more. I’ve tightened up my menu for this next week… more protein (oh meat, I have a hard time with you) and more veggies, and fewer carbs. This next up to bat is going to result in a homerun or else my name isn’t Yogi the Bear!

How did you all do this week? On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate your exercising and on that same scale your eating? Would love to hear any meal ideas you tried!
